Artist Spotlight: Nalini D’Souza
Nalini D’Souza, 10th
Nalini D’Souza is a sophomore and has a passion for writing poetry. This is a poem she wrote about autumn.
Autumn
The painted leaves of trees
Stolen gently by the breeze
Floating soundlessly
In a churning sea
As the cycle begins again
Weeping upon the Earth
Reds, and browns, and golds
Until the gnarled splinters
Of branches withered
Howl their songs of old
Trampled into the soil
Aroma of fresh, cold rain
The crunching ground
Melts into brown
Until no life remains
But this icy world
Is not what it seems
For the seeds of the past
Are nourished from ash
And the dead will rise again
