We are more than halfway through the winter sports season, and it has been pretty strong so far for Livermore High School athletics.

The girls’ teams have been playing exceptionally well, both on the basketball court and on the soccer field. The girls’ Varsity basketball team has won eleven games and lost twelve. The girls’ Varsity soccer team has a record of 9-6-3, and it looks like they are going to have another successful season.

The girls’ basketball team has been playing their hearts out this season and currently has a record of 11-12. The Cowboys played a great game against Granada High School, defeating them 81-62, and will play them again on February 13, 2018.

The Lady Cowboys’ soccer team also defeated their cross town rivals, Granada, with a score of 1-0, and will rematch the Matadors in the final game of the regular season. Depending on how they finish the rest of the season, they could make NCS Playoffs again.

The boys’ Varsity basketball team has a record of 6-17, and the boys’ Varsity soccer team has a record of 4-7-8.

The boys’ Varsity soccer team will not go down without a fight. They have a record of 4-7-8, with most of the games coming down to one goal or less.  

The boys’ Varsity basketball team has been having a rough season, but is still playing very hard, motivated by their teamwork.

Grant Dufek (grade 11) says, “The scoring has been shifted among more players and we are sharing the ball a lot more. On defense we have come together and have grown as a team with a lot of comradery. We are working as a team more than last year, which has helped us succeed more.”

Dufek added, “My favorite part of the season has been being in close games, especially home games where the crowd brings a lot of energy to the game.”

The Varsity team has a record of 6-17 so far this season and are looking to finish the season strong including an upcoming game against Granada on February 13, 2018.
