Avni Vachhani (grade 12) is leading the Red Cross Blood Battle at Livermore High School. This competitive take on a blood drive is held to collect blood donations and save lives. The blood battle is a competition between Granada High School and LHS to see who can collect the most blood to donate.

The LHS blood drive took place on Oct. 3 in the library while Granada’s drive will be on Oct. 10. Students 16 years and older are allowed to participate with signed parental permission slips.

The winning school with the most blood collected will be announced on Oct. 25 at the LHS-GHS football game. Vachhani expects around 50 donors to participate in the blood drive. She also expects to get around 30 to 35 pints of blood.

In the last three years LHS has collected 375 pints of blood. Once every trimester the school holds a blood drive and the blood gets donated.
